i design. i travel. i think and love to talk about what i think. i love to hear what you think about what i think. i have done work on tuberculosis, malaria, education, maternal mortality, prosthetics, mobile health apps, microbial fuel cells, and more. i am a graduate student at the MIT media lab in the Biomechatronics Group. Before that, i was at Harvard college where i studied bioengineering. Before Harvard, i was in Norway at the Red Cross Nordic United World College. Before Norway, i was in Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone is my home and that is where my heart is.
Hello, I am doing some summer reading for a high school where I teach, and read about your work with mosquito net distribution, producing prosthetics, etc. and your interest in micro loan financing. I have a friend, Andrews, nyantaky@augsburg.edu who is from Ghana and very active in his community there. My wife and I were in Ghana two years ago and helped do a little fundraising. He, although only in college himself, is very committed to education in Ghana. His latest venture is to provide micro loans to women in Africa and I want to see how my school might help out. I thought you would be the perfect person for him to contact to hear about some of your experience and expertise, and also to give me ideas on what I can do, aside from merely fundraising or maybe selling cottage industry products. If you could, would you please contact him at the email above? I cannot seem to find a direct email to you. Would you also please email me, David Hanson, dhanson@mvcds.org?
Thank you for any help. I am a high school math teacher and could see how kids here could analyze business costs, etc. but I would like ideas on how to create a larger project for my classes and to collaborate with other departments.
